Give Thanks to God!

For the repentance of Harold Camping.

I'm not sure this counts as repentance, certainly not full repentance. The board seem to try to justify (in a roundabout way) Camping's failed predictions by citing how many people read the Bible as a result of his false prophecies. In addition, there is no mention of the other peculiar Campingite doctrines, such as the Holy Spirit's removal from the earth in 1988, the apostasy of all churches, annihilationism, and Camping's rejection of total depravity.

If anything, this statement is akin to T.D. Jakes' supposed acceptance of biblical Trinitarianism, while still holding to Word-Faith and egalitarian dogmas.

Could it be better? Sure. But he calls his former way sin, and expresses remorse for it.

Puritan Physicist, I see them more as repenting whilst praising God that He was able to use their sinful action for some good.

Yeah, as turretinfan says it could be better, but I think the repentance is genuine.

It's certainly a step in the right direction, and looking over the letter again, it brings me great hope to see Camping flat-out say that the orthodox view of "no man knows..." is correct. But even then, in the very next sentence he continues to leave the door open for another date reveal: "Whether God will ever give us any indication of the date of His return is hidden in God’s divine plan." Sorry, Mr. Camping, but you can't have it both ways.

I do pray that he and FR repent publicly of their heretical pneumatology and ecclesiology. But until they do, I think it's premature for Christians to rejoice and say he's repentant, and I can't in good conscience join in.

I do look forward to seeing what Dr. White has to say on this. Who knows, maybe Mr. Camping could even appear on the Dividing Line. That would be something to tune in to!

A declaration of repentence is premature. Repentence is a turning away from former things. Time will only tell, especially when the funds to operate FR get tight.

Yes and amen! Let judgment begin in the House of the Lord! I have been experiencing some fire and heat and a purifying purge that is clearing my own head so that I, too, can see clearly enough to live a life of continual repentance and times of refreshing that come from the Presence of the Lord!

Wondering some of all the harm that was done and is still harming by his ministry, I am one to rejoice if indeed God has granted him and his organization of souls true repentance as it would set up the opportunity for many more to rejoice in the gift of repentance, the forgiveness of sins and a wholehearted God ordained Faith in Him!

More Lord, more conviction upon our soul as we, too, see the day of the Lord coming!
